Sparrow
Words and Music: Neil F. Patton
See the sky
I wonder where it ends and where I’ll fly.
Though I may die,
I’ll leave this mortal dream and climb the mountain high!
CHORUS:
I’ve seen the sparrow fall;
I’ve soared on wings that were not mine,
And yet the boy inside is now a man!
For I’ve seen beyond the wall,
To the undiscovered country,
And I will not bow down to Fear!
Wings of life;
I’ll live each day as if there were no night.
These wings of light
Will show to me the world beyond this maiden flight
(CHORUS...)
The winds of this world blow me down.
But death has no hold on me now.
I’ll fly to the battle, or leave it all behind;
The readiness is all!
(CHORUS...)
CHORUS 2:
I’ve seen the sparrow fall;
I’ve held these hours within my hands;
I’ve run this race, I know that I have won!
To live is Christ, to die is gain,
I’m never looking back again!
And I will not bow down...
To Fear!

Save a Melody
(A Musical Offering)
Words and Music by Neil F. Patton
Here I stand, a solitary man.
All I've got is this box of keys.
Eighty-eight little singers in a row,
to sing my melody for me.
Sometimes I see my prayers like some pretty pink balloons
Bouncin' on the ceiling.
But a melody can say so much more than words.
Save a melody for me.
CHORUS:
I stood at the top of the mountain and prayed a prayer to You.
No matter how I tried to find the words,
The words would not come through.
But You wrote this Song upon my heart with Your own flesh and blood.
Save a melody for me...
(CHORUS...)
All I am
All I do
I’ve come to realize that they all belong to You.
Nothing short of everything is what You gave to me.
Now, why can't I give it back to You?
David and his harp, dancing in Your presence.
How I want to know that joy!
I wanna hear the the trumpets of Your children
Blowin' down the walls!
(Please) Save a melody for me...
(CHORUS...)
...I give my melody to You...

The Other Side
Words and Music by Neil F. Patton
There’s a pain in your eyes this evening.
There’s a fear in your voice that says it all.
‘Cause the headlines in the news give you no reason
To believe this God we serve is here at all.
I hear you say, “Is it all worth it?”
I know you’ve been down this road before.
And it scares me to find that I don’t have your answers,
When all we can hear is a slamming door.
CHORUS:
Sometimes I find it hard to see the other side.
Sometimes I find it hard to see at all.
But I know beyond this shadow there must be a light
Waiting there for those who hear the call.
I remember a time when we would count our blessings.
Now it seems we only see the rising tide.
For our shore is wearing thin in this world of easy sin,
And this mocking laughter strips away our pride.
But I’ve seen too much to simply walk away.
Yes, I’ve seen too much to say there’s nothing there.
For behind these scenes we’ve felt His Light
And His hand of Love upon our lives.
Yes, I’ve seen enough to know that He still cares... (though...)
(CHORUS...)
Oh I find in these times when I have these fears,
They’re the times when I’m never on my knees!
Oh, my strength to comprehend is a fortress I’ll defend
‘Till I find I never really held the keys!
(CHORUS...)
CHORUS 2:
Oh, Lord please give me Hope so I can see the other side.
Lord please give me Faith so I can see it all.
In this world your Love can seem to be an ever-fading Light
But You have proved Your Love to be the greatest of all!

Remember Me
(Luke 23:32-43)
Words and Music: Neil F. Patton
Three trees on a skull;
Two thieves and a King.
The mob mocked them in their agony.
One thief turned away,
The other said,
“Please...
“Fly me to Heaven.
Your Heart is calling me.
I feel the chains around my Soul,
It's crying to be free...
Remember me.
“Father, You know I've sinned.
You see me here...
I pay the Price for my crimes.
But, Father...
Why are You here?
You've done nothing
To deserve the pain You bear...
Please...
“Fly me to Heaven.
Your Heart is calling me.
I feel the chains around my Soul,
It's crying to be free...
Remember me.”
“My Son, I know you're scared to die.
The Door's before you.
Take my hand, I'll lead you through.
My Son, you need not be afraid,
For though today you die,
Today you shall be with me in Paradise!”

Heaven
Words and Music: Neil F. Patton
On a clear blue morning, I see your eyes;
On a moonlit beach I feel your presence by my side.
You press your hand in mine, I feel the strength you share;
And in your arms I cannot hide...
With your eyes I see it all:
One by one, you’ve helped me pull down all these walls.
More and more, this gift of love grows ever deeper,
As I watch these barriers fall.
Beyond Beauty
Behind your shining face
I am witness
To God’s own perfect grace.
CHORUS:
So now...
We’ll burn the ships behind us
And we’ll walk upon these waters till we’re Home again.
And now...
We’ll set our eyes on Heaven,
And the Joy that flows from God will be our own.
(Don’t look back, He’ll lead us till we’re Home.)
Through bitter tears you led me home.
Through tears of joy you see me make my heart your own.
Through all these years we finally see
That now, we need not walk alone.
(CHORUS...)
In this moment, I can feel Him in this place,
Waiting just to take us by the hand...
In your love I feel a shadow of His Grace,
Of what awaits us in that Land...
(CHORUS...)

Lift Your Voices High
Words and Music: Neil F. Patton
Standing under starlight
Feel the fires of all creation.
The music of the satellites
Fills my ears, my eyes, my mind, my soul...
If my eyes could hold the sight
They would weep in revelation.
A thousand worlds display the might
Of the holy Hand that formed them all...
(Gloria in excelsis Deo!)
CHORUS:
Lift your voices high!
Hear all Creation sing!
Raise your hearts and hands to heaven,
Cry unto the King!
Lift your voices high!
Let go the pride of Man!
Let everything with life and breath
Exalt the Great I AM!
The heavens tell of glory
Known to man for days unending.
Minds would tell the story
If we would escape the pride of old...
(Gloria in excelsis Deo!)
(CHORUS...)
Dancing in the sunlight;
The passion play of celebration
Ends the void of endless night;
We could hold the Hand that frees our soul...

Share It With You
Words and Music: Neil F. Patton
I saw you light a candle in your window.
Could I share in some of your light?
A moonlit walk along the beach is all I really need tonight,
But to share it with you would be nice!
OH, La, la, la, la, la...
I've heard it said that Love is dead,
A used and dried up reasoning;
I guess they never spent no time with you.
I've heard it said that what we have
Will never stand the test of time. Well...
What are you doing for the rest of your life?
OH, La, la, la, la, la...
I saw you light a candle in your window.
Could I share in some of your light?
Is this Love, or is it just
The closest thing I've come to know?
But to share it with you would be nice!
OH, La, la, la, la, la...

Who Am I
Words and Music: Neil F. Patton
Underneath a sky of gray,
the future calls my name.
I know I have no need to fear,
yet I fear it just the same.
Over the horizon
is a land I cannot see.
I find myself in selfish prayer:
“Lord, what’s in this for me?”
But then I ask...
CHORUS:
Who am I, to hold my hands,
Hold my hands against the tide?
Who am I, to look into the face of God,
And tell Him that He’s lied?
Who am I, to forget the years of love?
Who am I...
Could He take me somewhere where I don’t know the way?
Could He show me some one that He might tear away?
Could He throw away the plans
that have made me who I am?
Why should I give Him all the strength
that drives this weary man?
(CHORUS...)
I stood upon the threshold
of a fearful stage in life.
I asked the doorman for a light
to lead me through this night...
He said, “Step into the dark my friend,
and take your Father’s hand.
For that shall be to you a Light,
far brighter than you could plan!"
(CHORUS...)

Could It Be
Music and Lyrics by Neil F. Patton
Born of lies in the age of reason in the name of brutal pride,
Hear the cry that inside we are free from evil.
Innocence will change in season, in fear we choose a side;
With random hope we place our bets and stay alive.
Inhumanity of man strikes me as very human
When love of gold crushes reason in its lies.
I Take a look at the world around me, but the smoke gets in my eyes,
Saying there is no fire, I only fan the flame.
CHORUS 1:
What was the reason for the Blood shed on the hill so long ago?
Deep beneath our finer feelings, could it be we're really all the same?
History has taught us nothing; positivist naïvite
Claims tearing down can only make it better.
See the children sold for whores, and the rape of endless wars;
In blood the map is drawn over and again.
All the way from the Trail of Tears to wholesale genocide;
Doesn't take too much to make a nation close its eyes.
Oh God, I'm filled with fear! Dear God, there must be more!
Dear God please give me hope, so I may live again!
CHORUS 2:
What was the reason for the Blood shed on the hill so long ago?
Deep beneath our finer feelings, could it be we're really all the same?
Caught between the hammer and the nail I see a hole I can not fill.
I've held the hammer in my hands.
Could it be we're really all to blame?
Who am I?
Who do I say was this Man that He'd lay down His Life for me?
Please tell me...
(CHORUS 2...)

We Are One
(For Christopher and Janna Holt)
Words and Music: Neil F. Patton
All
this time,
Not knowing how you'd change my life.
Now I can't even see
What I would be without you.
And the time goes by so slowly now.
But today we'll find we've made it somehow and
We will stand together until that day
When He carries us away...
CHORUS:
Rising, falling now,
We are One, We are One.
Standing, falling down,
We are One
We, we are One.
The Music plays;
It rings us around, and draws us near.
But the music I hear today
Is not to be played by one alone.
See the time go by so quickly now.
Yet there's so much to say,
So we'll share it somehow.
My words, they fail to fully share my heart,
But with you I can start again...
(CHORUS...)
Your Love, it brings me 'round again
To look deep inside, and find you, my friend.
The road will be hard, but together we can find a way.
Let nothing tear us away...
So here we stand...
I look in your eyes and I know now...
(CHORUS...)

Threads
(The
Crossing, Part I)
Words and Music: Neil F. Patton
Today they said you died.
So many holes left behind.
So many questions why;
So many prayers denied.
I know,
This side of life,
We only see the threads
Of one unending tapestry of love...
But letting go of you
Is the hardest thing that I have ever done.
(the pain is always new...)
But I’m finding what is true,
So I’ll run this race as you would have me run.
(what else could I do?)
And these shoes that I must fill
Are much too big and far too familiar;
Perhaps I’ll find a new pair of my own.
I’m letting go of you,
But one day soon,
We’ll play these songs again!
These six silent strings
Remind me how your heart would sing
Of heaven’s hope at last;
Yet sometimes heaven seems to come too fast.
I know,
This side of life,
We only see the threads
Of one unending tapestry of love...

Cloud
of Witnesses
(The
Crossing Part II)
Words and Music: Neil F. Patton, Jeff Brock
A year has passed since you went away,
And I look to see if I have changed.
There’s a ring upon my finger, a new purpose in my
stride;
But not a day goes by without the pain.
But pain looks different in the light of day,
Even when you’ve seen the darkest night.
And the sparrow that is you still calls me on to fly
again,
To leave behind the pain and face the light.
Only you would dare to clip my wings;
I never stopped to think and wonder why.
But only when you showed me how to find my feet again,
It was then I found that I could fly!
So a part of you is now a part of me;
For the simple things of life you gave away
Are the things that pull me closer to the ones that I
hold dear;
And giving is the smallest price I pay.
CHORUS:
OH!
I wonder, do you hear me?
Do you hear the songs we’ve sung?
OH! (Sing your song...)
I wonder do you see me?
Do you smile and say, “Well done?”
And even as I sing these songs, I dream I hear your
voice
Singing to the King of Kings above the earthly noise.
And in this cloud of witnesses, I swear I felt you
here...
Yet even in the best of times the night still falls,
And in those times I wish I had you here.
But these two eyes have seen the very mountains move
aside,
With God, I’ve found, I’ve nothing left to fear.
So these shoes fit better now, I walk a little
straighter
And the sparrow that is me has found his wings.
And even though I miss you as so many of us do,
I know, now, you’d never change a thing.
(CHORUS...)
